China, Japan, and South Korea sign a new joint action plan for environmental cooperation

Xinhua News Agency, Jinan, September 28 (Reporter Gao Jing) — Huang Runqiu, Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, announced on the 28th that the 26th China-Japan-Korea Environment Ministers' Meeting adopted and signed a new joint action plan, the "China-Japan-Korea Environmental Cooperation Joint Action Plan (2026-2030)." The plan outlines a series of collaborative activities centered on eight priority cooperation areas, laying a solid foundation for trilateral environmental cooperation over the next five years.

This was learned by the reporter at the 26th China-Japan-Korea Environment Ministers' Meeting held in Yantai, Shandong Province, on that day.

China is a resolute actor and significant contributor to global green development. Huang Runqiu introduced to the participants that China has achieved remarkable results in green development. While strengthening its own ecological civilization, China actively participates in global environmental and climate governance, contributing Chinese wisdom and strength to building a clean and beautiful world.

The China-Japan-Korea Environmental Ministers' Meeting is a key cooperation mechanism under the framework of the China-Japan-Korea Leaders' Meeting. Huang Runqiu noted that the environmental departments of the three countries have continuously strengthened practical cooperation to jointly address regional and global environmental challenges. They have successively implemented three joint environmental cooperation action plans, achieving fruitful outcomes in various fields such as air pollution control, sandstorm prevention, and chemical environmental management.

He stated that the meeting achieved broad consensus, with the three parties exchanging insights on the latest policy measures and work achievements in environmental protection. They reviewed the progress of the joint environmental cooperation action plan and candidly discussed specific cooperation matters such as air quality improvement, dust storm research, climate change mitigation, and biodiversity conservation, thereby advancing cooperation to tangible results.

The newly adopted joint action plan at this meeting has laid a solid foundation for environmental cooperation among the three countries over the next five years. The three parties have reached a consensus to enhance coordination and collaboration, mobilize all available resources, and jointly implement the new joint action plan effectively.
