Suva, September 28 (Xinhua) - Fiji's Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics, Biman Prasad, said at the celebration of the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Fiji on the 27th that the friendship between the two countries has been tested and strengthened over time, and Fiji China relations are at an unprecedented high level.
Prasad said that currently, the relationship between Fiji and China maintains a good development momentum, and both sides have established a comprehensive strategic partnership of mutual respect and common development. For many years, the people of Fiji have benefited from the continuous support provided by the Chinese government in areas such as infrastructure, education, and healthcare, for which he expresses sincere gratitude.
This year marks the 170th anniversary of the arrival of Chinese people in Fiji. Prasad said, "The Chinese community has always been an important part of our society, making significant contributions to Fiji's socio-economic development and enriching our cultural heritage
In his speech, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian said that mutual respect is the fundamental cornerstone of stable and far-reaching relations between China and Fiji, mutual benefit and win-win results are important driving forces for China and Fiji to achieve their respective development, and upholding justice is the shared responsibility of China and Fiji as countries in the global South. At the celebration event on that day, actors from Guangdong Folk Art Troupe and local dance troupes from Fiji performed together, presenting wonderful martial arts, acrobatics, puppetry, Cantonese opera, and song and dance performances to the audience.
