Dushanbe, September 26 (Xinhua) -- "Finding the Road to Happiness in Little Cotton" - China Tajikistan Agricultural Cooperation Benefiting Local People

Xinhua News Agency reporters Chen Tinggou Hongjing Zhao Yu

In mid September, in a field in Tangala District, Khatlon Oblast, southwestern Tajikistan, a cotton picker roared as it picked mature cotton from the field. The snow-white cotton is mechanically harvested, compressed, and packaged into plump cotton bales, neatly stacked in the fields.

This year's cotton has grown well, it's a bountiful year! "Liu Jiaxian, a cotton planting expert from China, braved the scorching noon sun and explained in detail to Xinhua News Agency reporters, sweat soaking his clothes.

Liu Jiaxian has been working in Tajikistan for 16 years with the aspiration of using Chinese technology to help the local cotton production increase and improve. The Dangala region is located in the Vakhsh River Valley, with a large temperature difference between day and night, long sunshine hours, and climate and hydrological conditions that are very suitable for cotton growth. It is a well-known cotton production area. However, due to outdated agricultural facilities and outdated technology, the yield has not increased

In 2014, under the promotion of the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road" initiative, the China Tajikistan cooperation project Tangala Agricultural Textile Industrial Park came into being. The industrial park has leveraged the complementary advantages of production capacity between China and Tajikistan, and established a demonstration park covering the entire industry chain of cotton planting, cotton processing, spinning, weaving, printing and dyeing, and ready to wear. This has enabled local cotton to embark on an industrial transformation path from exporting a single raw material to exporting high value-added products, driving local employment and income growth.

Previously, the local cotton yield was about 100 kilograms per mu. In recent years, we have used Chinese technology to transform the soil and cotton field irrigation system, shared seed technology and cotton planting technology with the local people, and now the harvest can reach more than 400 kilograms per mu, "Liu Jiaxian proudly said." Now, Tajikistan cotton farmers give a thumbs up whenever they talk about Chinese technology

With the deepening of bilateral cooperation between China and Tajikistan, the industrial park has grown from Phase I project to Phase IV project in more than 10 years. The achievements of China Tajikistan "the Belt and Road" cooperation have made local people feel happy and happy.

Kayumov, a 24-year-old Tajikistan man who has studied Chinese for 6 years and has studied abroad in China, is a translator for the industrial park. As a local of Dangala, he came to the industrial park as soon as he graduated and has only been working for three months. Kayumov is full of expectations for his career prospects.

I am proud that my hometown town can welcome a big industry and find a path to happiness in the small cotton fields, "said Kayumov." The villagers receive decent salaries and professional vocational skills training, and young people no longer have to leave their hometowns to work hard. The locals take pride in working in the industrial park

The reporter walked into the industrial park and saw that the production workshops were spacious and tidy, and many textile equipment were made in China. Local workers are concentrating on printing, dyeing, sewing and other work, with a considerable proportion of female employees.

Thanks to the factory right at my doorstep, I have realized my dream of becoming a professional woman, "said Daflatova, a sewing worker at the industrial park. Most of the local women used to be housewives, taking care of children at home or making some food to sell at the market.

I cherish the job opportunity here very much. Working in the factory makes me feel fresh, and I can't help but want to learn more and more. Now, Davletova not only proficiently masters textile and sewing techniques, but also learns clothing design and is self-learning Chinese.

Kosimov has been involved in construction work since the beginning of the factory construction. Now, more than ten years have passed, and he has grown from a construction worker to a technical backbone of the factory, becoming close friends with Chinese colleagues.

After working in the factory for more than ten years, I grew from a manual worker to a technical worker. At first, I didn't know anything, but thanks to two Chinese masters who taught me the skills, how to sew and operate equipment, "Kosimov said." Thank you to the Chinese masters for teaching us the strengths of a skill and realizing our life value in the process of professional growth
