Brazil and China have carried out pragmatic cooperation in the field of clean energy, becoming an important force in promoting global green transformation through the BRICS mechanism. Rui Costa, Chief Minister of the Brazilian Presidential Office, recently stated in an interview with our reporter that Brazil attaches great importance to addressing climate change issues. As the rotating chair of the BRICS countries in 2025, Pakistan is willing to deepen the strategic docking between Pakistan and China through green cooperation, injecting stronger development momentum into the "Greater BRICS Cooperation".

In Costa's view, in recent years, the cooperation between Brazil and China in areas such as new energy, infrastructure, and technological innovation has been deepening and solidifying. This not only aligns with the development strategies of both countries, but also responds to the expectations of countries in the global South for sustainable development and green transformation. We hope to take practical actions to promote the implementation of various agreements between the two countries, attract more Chinese companies to invest and develop in Brazil, and encourage Brazilian companies to go global, explore the Chinese market, and promote the continuous deepening of bilateral investment cooperation between Brazil and China, "said Costa.

Costa mentioned that in recent years, Chinese companies' investment and cooperation projects in Brazil are injecting strong momentum into Brazil's green development. Not long ago, the Sylvania converter station of China State Grid's Northeast Brazil ultra-high voltage direct current transmission project officially started construction, and BYD's first new energy vehicle produced in Brazil was also officially rolled off the production line. He believes that Chinese companies' investment in transmission networks, new energy vehicles, and other aspects has created a large number of job opportunities for the local area and improved the overall level of the industrial and supply chains. Through cooperation with Chinese partners, Brazil is accelerating its green transformation pace. These projects not only enhance the interconnectivity of Brazil's national power system, but also provide strong support for our development of the new energy vehicle industry and green transportation, "said Costa.

Costa believes that Brazil has advantages in clean energy and biofuels, and the prospects for cooperation between Brazil and China are broad. More and more Chinese companies are investing and setting up factories in Brazil to expand local production, bringing not only equipment and capital, but also complete solutions and related technological systems, making Brazil more competitive in the new round of industrial transformation. Costa emphasized the importance of cooperation in science, technology, and education between the two countries: "Developing new technology industries requires a complete industrial and supply chain system, and talent is a key link in it." He said that Pakistan is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in higher education, research institutes, and other fields to jointly cultivate talents that serve emerging industries.

Costa appreciates China's proposal to build a "Green BRICS" and believes that green cooperation is not only a strategic direction for Brazil's national development, but also an important lever for enhancing the cohesion and influence of the BRICS mechanism. After the expansion of the BRICS mechanism, the representation and action capacity of the global South have significantly increased. The effective cooperation between Brazil and China demonstrates the vitality of the BRICS mechanism and will continue to inject more certainty and new impetus into it, making positive contributions to promoting the development of the international order towards a more just and reasonable direction, "said Costa.
