On September 3, 2024, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade briefed Chinese and foreign media on the relevant situation of the 8th China Africa Entrepreneurs Conference. Zhang Shaogang, Vice President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, introduced the relevant situation and answered questions.
Zhang Shaogang stated that as an important supporting event for the 2024 Forum on China Africa Cooperation Summit, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Ministry of Commerce will jointly hold the 8th China Africa Entrepreneurs Conference in Beijing on September 6th. Leaders from six African countries will lead delegations to attend, and over 400 business representatives from more than 40 African countries will also be invited to attend. Both China and Africa will exchange and discuss topics of common concern, build consensus on cooperation, and jointly discuss cooperation plans. China will thoroughly implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, expand institutional opening-up to Africa, deepen cooperation in industrial and supply chains, better achieve economic integration, development linkage, and achievement sharing between China and Africa, and make greater contributions to consolidating the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Africa and building a high-level China Africa community with a shared future.
Zhang Shaogang stated that this year's Entrepreneur Conference will consist of three stages: the opening ceremony, keynote speeches, and closing ceremony. Chinese and African leaders will deliver speeches on how to enhance friendship between the two sides, continuously strengthen cooperation, and put forward expectations and suggestions for future cooperation between China and Africa. The keynote speech will invite representatives of Chinese and African entrepreneurs to share their successful experiences in cooperation and explore the opportunities for cooperation brought about by the new measures of the summit, focusing on the topics of "promoting the integration of industrial and supply chains" and "promoting the development of emerging industries".
Zhang Shaogang pointed out that entrepreneurs are the driving force and main force of China Africa economic and trade cooperation. The China Africa Entrepreneurs Conference is the highest level economic and trade event for the China Africa business community under the framework of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation. Since its establishment in 2003, it has been held every three years in rotation between China and African countries, and has been successfully held for seven sessions so far. President Xi Jinping attended the 5th and 6th China Africa Entrepreneurs Conference in 2015 and 2018 respectively, and delivered important speeches, fully reflecting the Chinese government's high attention to pragmatic cooperation between the Chinese and African business communities.
Zhang Shaogang stated that this year's Entrepreneur Conference has received high attention from African countries, and all parties have actively registered to participate. The conference has high standards, high enthusiasm for African participation, strong representation of enterprises, and strong effectiveness of the activities.
