Bell ringing: Dialogue and cooperation are the only correct choices for China and the United States

  This is the first communication between the heads of the US and China since the establishment of the current US government. The two heads of state agreed that both teams should continue to implement the Geneva Consensus and hold a new round of talks as soon as possible. In the face of multiple difficulties in Sino US relations, the strategic communication between the heads of state has provided important guidance for both sides to eliminate interference and destruction, overcome difficulties and challenges, and also added positive factors to the turbulent world.

  This is an important conclusion drawn from the development history of China US relations, which is of great significance for both sides to properly handle differences and strengthen cooperation, fully demonstrating China's consistent sense of responsibility in handling China US relations. The two countries' various sectors and the international community are highly concerned about the China US first visit, believing that it sends a positive signal of strengthening communication and dialogue between China and the United States. They hope that both sides can implement relevant consensus and take practical actions to promote the improvement and development of China US relations, injecting stability and positive energy into the world.

The economic and trade relations between China and the United States are of great significance to both countries and have a significant impact on the stability and development of the world economy. According to the proposal of the United States, the economic and trade leaders of the two countries held talks in Geneva, taking an important step towards resolving economic and trade issues through dialogue and consultation, which was widely welcomed by various sectors of the two countries and the international community, and also proved that dialogue and cooperation are the only correct choice. The Chinese side has always followed through on its words and actions, always taking a responsible attitude, treating them seriously, strictly implementing them, and actively maintaining the consensus of the Geneva Economic and Trade Talks. On the other hand, the United States has successively introduced multiple discriminatory restrictive measures against China after the Geneva Economic and Trade Talks, seriously undermining the consensus reached at the talks, seriously damaging China's legitimate rights and interests, and inevitably damaging the credibility of the United States. China is sincere and principled in resolving economic and trade issues through dialogue and consultation with the United States. Since a consensus has been reached, both parties should abide by it, maintain an equal attitude, respect each other's concerns, and strive for a win-win outcome. The US should view the progress made in a pragmatic manner and revoke the negative measures taken against China.

  China's determination to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity is unwavering. The United States should handle the Taiwan issue with caution and avoid a very small number of "Taiwan independence" separatists dragging China and the United States into a dangerous situation of conflict and confrontation.  

History and reality have repeatedly shown that cooperation between China and the United States benefits both, while confrontation harms both. China has always adhered to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation in handling its relations with the United States, and is committed to strengthening dialogue and communication with the United States, properly managing differences, and expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. After adjusting tariff measures based on the consensus reached at the Geneva talks, the shipping market between China and the United States has become increasingly difficult to find, fully demonstrating the urgent need for cooperation between the two countries' enterprises and once again confirming that mutual benefit and win-win results are the essence of their economic and trade relations. Whether it is promoting individual development, world economic recovery, or addressing international and regional hot issues, coordination and cooperation between China and the United States are necessary. Both sides should enhance exchanges in various fields such as diplomacy, economy and trade, military, law enforcement, etc., promote consensus, reduce misunderstandings, and strengthen cooperation.

President Trump stated during the phone call that US China relations are extremely important. The US is pleased to see China's economy maintain strong growth. US China cooperation can achieve many good things. The United States will continue to adhere to the One China policy and is willing to work together with China to implement the agreements reached at the Geneva Economic and Trade Talks. We welcome Chinese students to study in the United States. I hope the US will translate these commitments into concrete actions.

Only by correcting the course and finding the anchor point can we jointly steer the ship of China US relations away from reefs and shallow waters, and navigate through strong winds and waves. Both China and the United States should make good use of the established economic and trade consultation mechanism, continue to implement the Geneva Consensus, and hold a new round of talks as soon as possible.
